Jennie L. Hawthorne, 90, of the Gardens at Stevens formerly of Leola, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Mar. 16, 2017. Born in Plymouth, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frederick L. and Mary Stultz Allabaugh. Her husband, Rodney D. Hawthorne died in 1986.
A homemaker, Mrs. Hawthorne had worked at Schick; had attended Zion Lutheran Church, Leola; loved playing Bingo; going to Hollywood Casino; cooking and crochet; and especially spending time with family and grandchildren.
Survivors include: children, Christine (Gary) Habecker, Ephrata, Mary Wayne (Frank Fuller), Meadville, Cathy (Rick) Swayne, Quarryville, Ron (Gail) Hawthorne, Lititz, Annetta Bills (Paul Mays), Lancaster, Roger Hawthorne, New Holland, Patricia Hawthorne, Rodney Hawthorne, both of Lancaster; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren. Two children, Joyce Grube and Robert Hawthorne; two grandchildren, Debbie and Kyle; and a brother, Arlington Allabaugh preceded her in death.
Funeral Services: Monday, Mar. 20, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola. Interment: Trumbauer Memorial Cemetery, Leola. Viewing: 1 – 2 p.m. Monday at Furman’s.
