Lewis E. Ebert, age 100, of 421 Valley Rd, Hegins and most recently of Providence Place Senior Living Center of Pottsville, went home to be with his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday May 22, 2017 after a short bout with pneumonia.
Born in Hegins, Lewis was the youngest son of the late John B. & Dena Sevilla Koons Ebert.
Lewis was preceded in death by Mildred O. (Furman) Ebert, his loving wife of over 70 years; daughter, Marian; brothers, Albert, Webster, Robert, Harry, George & John; and two sisters, Anna Sweitzer and Elsie Smeltz.
Lewis graduated from Hegins High School in 1935. Throughout his life he worked as a pipefitter, coal miner and farmer. His last job was in the warping department at Gold Mills in Pine Grove for 19 years, retiring at the age of 71.
Lewis was a member of the Central Pennsylvania Gospel Band playing the baritone for many years. He was a member of Calvary Chapel Evangelical Free Church in Valley View and until recently attended two to three Bible studies each week. His favorite past times included tinkering on cars, mowing grass or plowing snow with his Kubota and dining at Hoss’s restaurant. A 100thBirthday Celebration was held in his honor on April 1st of this year.
Lewis is survived by his children, Louise Zsembik, Beverly Hills, FL, Gail Marchiano, Palmyra and Glen (Diane) Ebert, Cressona; grandchildren, Philip (Sandra) Marchiano, Nathan Marchiano, Deanna (Brent) Martin, Eric (Jessica) Ebert and Laura Ebert; great-grandchildren, Blake, Brett & Breanne Marchiano, Sophia Martin and Avery O’prey; plus many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Service, Saturday May 27 at 11am with a viewing from 9-11 at Calvary Chapel Evangelical Free Church, 1010 West Maple Street in Valley View with the Rev. Jesse Benack officiating. Interment will follow in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins.
