Alvin G. Smoker, 89, of Ronks, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017. Born in Mascot, he was the son of the late Levi and Annie Stoltzfus Smoker. He was the husband of Esta Lois Smoker for 65 years.
He enjoyed going to his Stoneybrook Cabin in Galeton, gardening, yard work, baseball, and spending time with his family. Alvin had worked for Smoker Excavating, and Leacock Township. He was a member of Stumptown Mennonite Church where he volunteered folding bulletins.
Surviving in addition to his wife are: four daughters, Judy wife of David Hoover, Washington Boro, Janet wife of John Lehman, Ronks, Joanne McComsey fiancé of Mervin Stoltzfus, Gap, Jean wife of Jerry Temple, Cherry Hill, NJ; 9 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Mae wife of Harold Engel, Parkesburg; three brothers, Levi husband of Wilma Leaman Smoker, Alberta, Canada, Ervin husband of Patti Shenk Smoker, Conestoga, John husband of Shirley Niederriter Smoker, Manheim; sister-in-law, Ruth Smoker. He was preceded in death by siblings, Bill, Marian, Omar and Lillie.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017 at 3 PM from the Stumptown Mennonite Church, 2813 Stumptown Rd., Bird-In-Hand. Friends may call from 1 to 3 PM prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care P.O. Box 4125 Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
