Susie “Sue” E. (Trout) Newswanger, 90, formerly of Kolb Drive, Lancaster and Bareville died on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at Landis Homes, Lititz, after a 12 year battle with dementia. She was the widow of Harold “Peanut” Newswanger, who died in 2004. They were married 58 years at his passing.
She was a graduate of Quarryville High School and Emil’s Hairdressing Academy and was a licensed beautician for 50 years in Bareville, owning her own salon. She also worked for RCA before she became a beautician, and was a gray lady volunteer for the former Osteopathic Hospital in Lancaster for 31 years. In later years, she worked for the Identicard Co. for many years, making many new friends again.
Sue was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church, Lancaster and Eastern Star. She and Peanut enjoyed traveling through the United States by bus. They made many forever friends when they traveled. They enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and the many friends they had.
Surviving are: one daughter, Sandy wife of Ralph Ed Hull Jr. of Lititz; one granddaughter, Kourtney wife of Matthew Morton; one great-grandson, Connor Morton; one great-granddaughter, Kayleigh, all of Florida; one step granddaughter, Lori wife of Larry Parson, Lancaster; one step grandson, Chris Hull husband of Kelly, Reinholds; four step great-grandchildren, Justin Parson and Kelsie (Matt) Peak, Jeremy and Logan Hull; three step great-great-grandchildren, Zva, Aliviah and Hudson Parson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 27, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola. Viewing: 9 – 10 a.m. Friday. Interment: Georgetown United Methodist Cemetery, Paradise.
