Ellsworth K. Gentel, 102, of Landis Homes, formerly of Conestoga, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 22, 2017. His wife of 68 years, Alice M. Gentel, died in 2008. Ellsworth was born in Collingswood, N.J. and was a graduate of Drexel Institute of Technology (now Drexel University) where he majored in Chemistry. He retired after 45 years in the laboratories at the Camden, N.J., Kankakee, IL and the Lancaster Lab Floor Plant & Research of Armstrong Cork Co. Ellsworth served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, which included two years with the 13th Air Force in the South Pacific Theatre. He was an Air Force Reserve member for nine years. He was also a member of the committee which founded the Lancaster Christian School in 1954 and was a member of Calvary Church.
Surviving are: four sons, James and Dean Gentel of MI, John Gentel of NY, Gary Gentel of NH; one daughter, Dayle Albert of Mount Joy; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
