Waltraut “Wally” Geiger, 94, of Leola, PA went to be with her beloved Lord on June 9, 2023. Her husband, Kenneth J. Geiger and her daughter, Heidi Sarracino, preceded her death, as well as her brother, Rudy, and sister, Diana. Wally is survived by Curt (Pam) Geiger, Cindy (Don) Riker, Tim (Linda) Geiger. She also left behind a sister-in-law, Patricia Hofheinz and was beloved Nana to grandchildren Shannon Sarracino, John (Jamie) Sarracino, Scott (Amy) Geiger, Ryan Geiger, Bethany Riker, Sean (Mandy) Riker, Jordon Riker, Karisa (Sean) Black, and Anita Geiger as well as seven great-grandchildren. Wally was born in Karlsruhe, Germany and immigrated with her family when she was just under two years old. She grew up in West Orange, NJ and after marrying Ken in 1950, they moved to northern Morris County, NJ where they raised their four children. After Ken retired, they moved to Troutville, VA in 1991 before relocating to Leola, PA in December 2012.
Wally was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and faithfully served in the churches in the various communities in which she lived. A life-long learner, she was an avid reader and had a strong appreciation for history and science. She was trained as a medical transcriptionist and also worked part-time and volunteered at community libraries as well as various ministries. She loved studying and teaching the Bible and also served writing the church newsletter in Virginia for many years. Her love for family, and all people, was only surpassed by her deep devotion to God.
