With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dr. Jacob Paul Clymer on November 30, 2024, at the age of 86. Born in Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania, Paul grew up on a farm near Quarryville as the oldest of eleven children.
A graduate of Lancaster Mennonite School, Eastern Mennonite University, and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Paul was a dedicated and respected family physician who practiced first in Mt. Union, PA, then in Leola, PA.
Paul took a keen and caring interest in people. He was actively involved at Otelia Mennonite Church and Rossmere Mennonite Church and served the broader community as well. He was recognized as “Landlord of the Year” by Tabor Community Services (now Tenfold). In all this, he combined a fierce work ethic with a kind and generous spirit.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Esther (Wert); three children: Mike (Melody Good) Clymer, Renee (Kendall) Isaac, and Cynthia Clymer; and six grandchildren: Silas, Reah, and Zoe Clymer and Ben, Nate, and Zach Isaac. He is survived by his brothers John (Sharon) Clymer and James (Lois) Clymer as well as his sisters, Erma (Carl) Horning, Ruth Kolb, Arlene Geibe, Esther Whetzel, and Elaine (Vern) Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Stella (Harnish) Clymer, his brother David Clymer, and two sisters, Martha and Stella Marie.
A memorial service will be held December 21 at Landis Homes’ West Bethany Chapel. Visitation 1:00-1:50. Service at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Landis Homes’ Caring Fund, 1001 Oregon Rd., Lititz, PA 17453.
