     Sherwood H. Miller, 88 of Leola, formerly of Witmer, passed away into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday January 14, 2025. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Sherwood A. Miller and Evelyn Marie Howard Miller. He was the loving husband of Joyce A. Neff Miller with whom he celebrated their 68th anniversary this past August.

     Sherwood was employed by Armstrong World Industries for 40 years as Accounts Receivable Manager. Later he worked for Manheim Auto Auction for 20 years. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, Leola. His greatest joy was singing in the choir and Praise Group at Zion. He was known as Miller Time! He was a 1954 graduate of East Lampeter High School. He was a member of the 1953 championship basketball team of East Lampeter. He was also Alumni President of East Lampeter for several years.

     Sherwood was a member of the Fishing Creek Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting and taking his gun for a walk. In 1952, he and his father won the Lancaster County Rifle Gun Father and Son tournament. He was Lancaster Sportsmen Club Rifle Champion 1951, 1952, and 1955.He was an avid golfer and bowler. He never took a Mulligan. Sherwood and Joyce enjoyed boating and water skiing early in their marriage. He was very devoted to his family and enjoyed all activities that involved his family. He never missed a sporting event of his daughter and granddaughter.

     In addition to his wife, he will be lovingly missed by his daughter, Beth married to Kevin Hostetter, Leola; one grandchild, Emily J. Hostetter (fiancé Jackson), Exton; nephew, Joseph Ganse, Manheim. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Ganse. 

     Funeral Services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Rd., Leola, PA 17540 with viewing there from 10 – 11 a.m.  Interment: Trumbauer Memorial Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are welcomed to the church c/o the above address.
