Barbara Ann Hoover, 76, of Landisville, peacefully passed away on December 2, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose warmth, kindness, and love for people touched all who knew her.
Born on July 15, 1948, Barbara lived a full and rewarding life. She graduated from Conestoga Valley High School in 1966. Her relationship with the Lord was primary in her life, which was evident to those she worked with over the years, within her friendships, and to her family. She and Glenn raised their family in Winchester, VA, living there for over 30 years before moving back to Lancaster in 2000. She spent many years working as a receptionist for various companies both in Winchester, VA and Lancaster, and finally retired from S. Clyde Weaver, where she formed lasting relationships and enjoyed those whom she was able to serve. Following that, she enjoyed volunteering her time at Landis Homes and Love, Inc. as well as being involved with her Red Hat group friends and the Sassy Lassies.
Barbara’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Glenn M. Hoover, with whom she would have celebrated 57 years of marriage this December 23. Together, they raised three children: Jeff (Carolyn), Mike (Arlisa), and Keith (Amy). Barbara’s love and devotion to her family extended to her five grandchildren—Jack, Sydney, Natalie, Justin, and Aleah. She is also survived by a sister Jean (Andy) Diener, brother John (Bonnie) Rohrer, and a brother Ron (Judy) Rohrer, as well as many nieces and nephews and other extended family.
Barbara had a special gift for making others feel welcome and valued, and she made those around her feel loved and appreciated. She will be remembered for her love of people, shopping, the Gaithers, game shows, Hallmark movies, and Longaberger baskets.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Alverta (Huber) Rohrer, and her brother Ken Rohrer.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Landisville Mennonite Church, 3320 Bowman Rd., Landisville, PA 17538. Visitation will be from 1-3pm with the service following at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to Landisville Mennonite Church in Barbara’s memory c/o the above address.
