Claire H. Schuyler, 89, of Lititz, was called home to the Lord on December 29, 2017. Born on January 22, 1928, in Plains, PA, Claire was the daughter of the late Frederick and Harriet (Williams) Hess. She grew up in Berwick, PA, graduated from Berwick High School and became a telephone operator for Bell Telephone. Through her employment, she met her future husband, Wayne C. Schuyler, who was a reporter for the local newspaper. They wed in 1947 and were married for 58 years, before his death in 2005. In addition to her husband, Claire was predeceased by a brother, Frederick Hess and two sisters, Ruth Hess and Kathryn (Hess) Williams.

Claire was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and a true woman of faith. She will be remembered for her steadfast love of the Lord, her unconditional love of and devotion to family, her calm demeanor and her great sense of humor. She volunteered at Christ Episcopal Church in Berwick, Meals on Wheels and Hospice of Columbia County and enjoyed sharing her gifts of cooking, baking (especially pies), cross stitch and latch hook rug making with others. She and Wayne did lots of traveling and camping, especially in Canada. Trips to The Holy Land with Wayne and Ireland with her daughter were quite special to her. After moving to Lititz in 2010, she became a member of St. Thomas Episcopal
Church.

Left to honor Claire’s memory and remember her love are a son, Scott L. Schuyler (Laura) of Bradenton, FL, a daughter, Deborah Schuyler Moore, of Lititz, seven grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren, a sister, Connie Whitenight, of Nescopeck, PA and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment in The St. Thomas Church Memorial Garden.
