Dorothy Ellen Miller, 76, of Leola, passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at the home of her daughter, Tara Taylor. Born in Lancaster and raised in Gap, she was the daughter of the late William S. and Pearl Webb Reynolds. She was the wife of Donald L. Miller. They had been married 55 years.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the Bellevue Presbyterian Church in Gap. She was an award winning author of young adult fiction books, and a graduate of Millersville University. Dorothy enjoyed reading and writing children's novels, and was the winner of the coveted “EDGAR AWARD" for best Children's mystery novels with her book “The Clearing". Her family fondly remembers her intellectual wisdom, love of animals, gardening and lively wit.
She had five daughters: Kathryn, wife of Howard Lynch, of Corvallis, OR; Jessica Benton of Bedford, PA; Tara, wife of Dr. Brian Taylor, of York; Natasha, wife of Quinn Hacker; Haydee, wife of Jason Mohler, both of Leola. She had 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services: 10 AM, Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola with interment following in Salem Evangelical Reformed Church, Hellers, Cemetery.
