Elsie Kauffman, 101, of Fairmount Homes, Ephrata, formerly of Bird in Hand, went Home to be with the Lord on Friday evening, November 22, 2024. Born in Smoketown, she was the daughter of David and Barbara Glick. In 1944 she was married to Sylvan Kauffman, who preceded her in death in May 1964.
Elsie was a gracious woman who modeled gratefulness and acceptance of God’s will in difficult times. Following her husband’s sudden death, she courageously raised her family, teaching them by example to embrace faith and trust in a sovereign God. She was a faithful member of the Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church. She loved her church family.
She is survived by her children: David (Rhoda) Kauffman, Leola; Kenneth (Ellen) Kauffman, Ronks; Marvin (Rosanna) Kauffman, Weldon, IA; Susie (Jonas) Beiler, Lancaster; Twila (Joseph) Yoder, Partridge, KS; Mary Jane (Robert) Miller, Clarkrange, TN, and Nancy Kauffman, Bird in Hand; 39 grandchildren, and 104 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Naomi Glick, Lititz.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Mary Kauffman; an infant grandson, and two infant great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Herr, Elma Smucker, Lena Lapp; brothers, Elmer and Daniel Glick.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, at 10:00 AM at Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church, 2903 Church Road, Bird in Hand. Viewings will be held at the church from 5-8 PM on Monday, November 25, and from 9-9:45 on Tuesday.
