Evelyn Elizabeth (Beck) Brown, 90, of Leola, passed away Saturday September 15, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Elsie and John Beck. She was the wife of the late Adam J. Brown with whom they celebrated 65 years of marriage. Evelyn was preceded in death by her son, Jere Brown.
Evelyn is survived by Kim Brown wife of Jere, Jim (David Boland), Cindy (Tom Thorpe). Grandmother to Matthew Brown (Jenna), Tyler Brown (Kaitlin), and Great-Grandchildren Miles, Ella, Judson. Evelyn was also preceded in death by her 7 siblings.
Evelyn was a graduate of Hempfield High School. She worked for RCA corporation and Servomation at New Holland Machine.
Evelyn had a lifelong passion for athletic competition which began in her teens as a slow pitch softball pitcher, continuing well into her 60’s. She excelled in softball, bowling, and volleyball. As an avid Senior Olympic athlete, she earned many medals for various competitive events into her late 80’s.
Evelyn cherished spending time with her family, children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time at the family mountain retreat in Bradford County. At the family retreat Evelyn would enjoy outdoor sports, hunting, snowmobiling and late night poker games. Evelyn was an avid gardener where she spent many hours tending to her flowers.
Evelyn was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles.
Evelyn was married at Zion Lutheran church where she was a life member; where she established many lifetime relationships.
Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Road, Leola, PA on Wednesday September 19th, 2018 at 2pm with interment following in the adjoining Trumbauer Memorial cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 2pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Endowment Fund in memory of Evelyn E. Brown.
