Helen Kopp, 85, formerly of Leola, passed away May 22, at Maple Farm Nursing Center. She was the loving wife of Arden Kopp of Leola. They would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in November.

Born in New York City in 1931, Helen was the daughter of the late Harry and Myrtle (Moody) Miller. She moved to Lancaster County with her family at a young age and as a youngster helped her father with his general store and soda fountain in Leola.

An avid antique collector, Helen spent countless hours at sales, her favorite items being flow blue dishes and old dolls.

She was a creative person and enjoyed interior decorating. Many of her friends would consult her for ideas on decorating. She was also a master of crafts and prided her work in making quilts and samplers among other things.

In the summer she enjoyed spending time in Mount Gretna where her parents owned a cottage, and could always be found outside working in her garden or some yard related endeavor.  She also loved looking at photos and loved to reminisce.

She was an extremely generous person who would be quick to help anyone in need. And she had an extra special bond with her daughter-in-law Tammy who she always considered the daughter she never had.  And above all, she was a devoted wife and mother. Helen was a longtime member of the Leola United Methodist Church, the same one that she got married in.

Surviving, besides her husband, are: a son, Dale husband of Tammy (Welk) Kopp of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Maureen Kopp of Millersville, Rosemary Kopp of Carney’s Point, NJ and Rory husband of Jennifer (Siekierka) Kopp of West Lawn; two great-grandchildren, Aubree Kopp and Gunner Kopp; and a sister, Margaret Parmer of Leola.

We would also like to thank the Maple Farm Nursing Center for all the excellent care that Helen received.

The funeral will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Maple Farm Nursing Center Chapel, 604 Oak St., Akron.  The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Interment: Trumbauer Memorial Cemetery, Leola.  Kindly omit flowers. Memorials welcomed to: Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
