John Z. Burkholder, 72, of 183 Forest Hill Rd., Leola entered into rest on Thursday, Mar. 27, 2025. Born in Bird-in-Hand, he was the son of the late Paul and Frances Zimmerman Burkholder. He was the husband of Mabel G. Hoover Burkholder. They were married 50 years March 6th.
He was a retired farmer and later worked as a woodworker. He was a member of the Groffdale Old Order Mennonite Church (Groffdale Conference), Leola.
Besides his wife, John is survived by: five children, Marvin (Malinda) Burkholder, Greenwood, WI, Edward (Vera Jane) Burkholder, Leola, Arlene (Jerry Martin), Fleetwood, Jonathan (Luanne) Burkholder, Ephrata, Susie (Raylyn Zimmerman), Willard, OH; 23 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; siblings, Emma Z. Burkholder and Anna Mary Burkholder, both Leola, Ella Z. wife of Enos Hoover, Shippensburg, Ruth Z. wife of Lester Martin, Curtiss, WI, Ina Z. wife of Norman Hoover, Owen, WI. John was preceded in death by: three children, Miriam, Elam & Anna Burkholder; a grandson, Matthew Zimmerman; siblings, Amos, Norman, Elam and Annetta Burkholder.
Funeral Services: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Apr. 2, 2025 at the Groffdale (Frame) Mennonite Church, 90 Groffdale Church Rd., Leola. Viewing: Tuesday, 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. at the late home. Interment: Groffdale (Frame) Mennonite Cemetery, Leola.
