Kathy Jo Masten, 56, of Manor Township, died on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 of complications related to lung cancer at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy. Born in Ephrata, she was the daughter of Leon P. and the late Lois A. (Burkholder) Weidman of Leola. She was married to Steven R. Masten for nearly 34 years.
She was a 1978 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School where she was a member of the gymnastic and track teams. In her senior year, Kathy advanced to the PIAA State Championships in both sports. In 1980, she graduated from Harcum Junior College in Bryn Mawr with an A.A. degree in Interior Design.
Until her illness, Kathy was employed by Special Occasions. Previously, she worked for Sodexco at Franklin and Marshall College where she served in various positions including catering director and dining room manager. She was a member of the Susquehanna Yacht Club.
Besides her father and husband, Kathy is survived by her son Travis married to Sara (Riccardi) Masten of Elizabethtown and daughter Carrie married to Christopher Corrao of Willow Street. Also surviving are: her grandson, Hugh Masten of Elizabethtown; a sister, Connie Weidman of Leola; mother-in-law, Joan E. Masten, wife of the late Ralph Masten, Jr. of Lancaster; sister-in-law, Ann Woomert (Bart) of Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada and sister-in-law Deborah Schoemer (Bruce) of Lorton, VA. Kathy is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
In addition to her mother, Kathy was preceded in death by her grandparents Harry and Edna (Eichelberger) Weidman and William and Anna (Musser) Burkholder.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 1st at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Rd., Leola. Family and friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday prior to the service. Interment: Prospect Hill Cemetery in York at the family’s convenience.
