Martha E. Hossler Kreider of Landis Homes, 83 years old, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, 5 1/2 months after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. She was a wonderful and faithful wife and mother, dearly loved by her husbands, Paul Hossler who died in 2014 and John Kreider, children and step-children.
She was born in Feb. 1, 1936 in Marion, PA, the daughter of the late Jonas and Elizabeth Baer Hege. She attended the Eastern Mennonite High School and worked in the hospitality industry and also in home healthcare. Martha attended the Marion Mennonite Church until moving to Lancaster after marriage, and then attended the E. Chestnut St. Mennonite Church and served on the hospitality committee and was a youth leader. An excellent seamstress and cook, she spent much of her life in service to others.
Martha is survived by: her husband, John Kreider, Landis Homes; one son, Loren D. married to Audrey King Hossler, Newmanstown; a daughter, Kendra D. Hossler Goodman, Leola; two grandchildren of whom she was very proud, Kyle and Kelly Hossler; siblings, Dorothy married to Marvin Groff, Canton, Barbara married to the late Benjamin Risser, Harrisonburg, VA, Nathan married to Arlene Hege, Landis Homes, David married to Arlene Hege, GA; brother-in-law, John Brenneman, Lancaster; step-children; step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Brenneman.
The memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mellinger Mennonite Church, 1916 Lincoln Hwy East, Lancaster with greeting time from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. There will also be a visitation at Landis Homes Bethany West Chapel, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Private interment was in Good’s Mennonite Cemetery, Elizabethtown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to: E.
