     Miriam S. Hershey, 99, of Lititz, formerly of Intercourse, died after a short illness at Landis Homes on Palm Sunday, March 20, 2016.  Born in Leacock Twp. on May 8, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Martin R. and Sue Eby Hershey.

     Miriam worked at Welsh Mt. Home and Landis Homes.  In her early life she served in Alabama missions.  She was joyfully involved at Derry Church and Meadville Mennonite Church, where she was a member.  Miriam enjoyed embroidering, quilting, and crocheting for Landis Homes and MCC.  Her vibrant Christian character reflected in the time spent with her many friends and family members.

     Surviving are a brother, J. Eby Hershey (Kathryn Sauder), Lititz, a sister-in-law Eleanor Hostetter Hershey, Lancaster, and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by: brothers, Sem E., M. Rohrer, Amos H., John O., and Sanford E. Hershey; and sisters, Emma Hershey (with whom she resided many years), Elizabeth Leaman and Evelyn Leaman.

     The family wishes to thank Landis Homes for their loving care and support during her last season of life.

     A funeral service, conducted by the family, will be held on Monday, March 28, 2016, at the Landis Homes West Bethany Chapel, 1001 E. Oregon Rd., Lititz at 11 am with a visitation for family and friends two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in Hershey’s Mennonite Cemetery, Kinzers.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Eastern Mennonite Missions or Mennonite Central Committee.
