Wayne H. Welk Sr., 75, of Rest Haven – York, formerly of Leola, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017.
Born in Bird-in-Hand, he was the son of the late Walter and Ruth (Thompson) Welk. Wayne worked as a diesel mechanic for Oehme Contract Carriers and the Schreiber Co., both Lititz.
He enjoyed micro-sprint racing at Lanco/Clyde Martin Speedway, Brickerville, and working on his Hot Rod Antique 1937 Ford Coupe.
He will be missed by his wife, Phyllis of Galeton, PA, son, Wayne Jr. married to Denise Welk of York, PA; brother, Richard married to Margit Welk of Coudersport, PA; sister, Judith married to the late Heber Webb of Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Arlene Rineer.
The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 612 N. Duke St., Lancaster. Greeting time with the family will be an hour before the service.
